August Truly – Rosita

Louisiana-born August Truly found solace in music during his elementary school years. Growing up in a military family amidst racial and economic tensions, the piano became his escape. Music wasn’t just an outlet; it allowed him to combine his academic strengths with a burgeoning creativity he wasn’t sure he possessed.

After earning his MBA in finance, August made a powerful return to his musical roots. His inspirations are a diverse tapestry, spanning genres and artistic mediums: from the visionary genius of Leonardo da Vinci to the soulful sounds of Frank Ocean, Lenny Kravitz, and Erykah Badu. He finds artistic kinship with the genre-bending likes of Beck and Donald Glover, and draws inspiration from the powerful voices of Nina Simone and Radiohead.

In fall 2022, August released his debut self-titled EP, exploring themes of existentialism, romantic yearning, and the resilience forged by life’s experiences. He’s currently crafting his follow-up album with a talented crew of Dallas musicians, including LaKendric ‘Scooter’ Davis, Cleon ‘Gudfoot’ Edwards, and Jordache V. Grant.

Beyond music, August is an artist seeking opportunities to share his talents. He’s open to projects in modeling and acting, eager to explore the creative landscape of film and television.
