This great song by Mac’ is about overcoming addiction and self-acceptance. The great mind admits to making mistakes in the past, including drinking, drug use, and breaking hearts. However, he is now determined to move on and be a better version of himself.

He places emphasis on is not going to pretend to be someone he’s not, and that he is going to accept himself for who he is. The chorus of the song is “I ain’t going to hate myself no more, maybe I ain’t perfect, but I’m putting that work in, I ain’t going to break down like before, and baby I’m hurting, but I’m a stronger version. This line captures the overall message of the song, which is that the singer is on a journey of self-improvement and is determined to become a stronger person.
